Care for copyrights? -You should!
Oct 5th
Internet must be destroyed again.
Facebook just blamed a guy, Erkki Alanko for violating copyrights because he had a Vivaldi soundtrack on the background of his own little flower video (HS 6.10).
No disrespect, but the original copyrights to Vivaldi’s music have expired 200 years ago. Vivaldi, like any other person, owns the copyrights to his works for no more than 7o years world wide.
The record company who produced a new version of the symphony can in theory start throwing lawsuits and demand royalties, IF the music is in public use. This video was shared only for between 50 of his friends.
The clip was removed and Facebook suspects a violation. Does it make sense? We are all allowed to sell the same exact piece of music in under our own name and then fight about who owns the rights.
Well, Facebook decides to be fair for everybody and ban royalty free music. So no, we can’t enjoy the 18th century masterpieces because someone somewhere might claim thats their own.
The funny thing is that getting your hands on to the classical music has never been easier than today. Here’s Vivaldi’s Le quattro stagioni, enjoy. Hmm why do I feel like having pizza now?
